As you take the short steep drive into the hills above Casares you leave your worries and stresses below. The views get increasingly impressive as you wind your way above the small village and arrive at the DDG Retreat gates. Private, secluded, there are almost no neighbours.
A quick call to Daria and the gates open into the tree lined drive up to the reception. Staff greet and welcome you with a cool towel and fresh orange juice to freshen up after the drive. I stayed in one of the new luxury glamping tents – the Maharadja. Wooden stairs lead you to the deck with private plunge pool and lounger, then into the main tent with Marble floors, big screen tv, steam shower, king size bed – this is no ordinary tent.
Walk out to the other side of the decking to reveal the outdoor shower and bath with stunning views of the hills below, which you can enjoy from your sofa. There’s even a BBQ if you want to fire it up. Why not, you’re on holiday! At your leisure wander to the heated infinity pool for more sun and relaxation.
There’s an honesty bar and food service to sustain you, an on-demand spa to indulge you, and gym equipment and a tennis court if you’re feeling more energetic! You really don’t need to leave the retreat, but if you want to wander out there’s local restaurants to explore in Casares and the 1km walk down the hill is beautiful. Look out for eagles soaring above in the thermals. When it’s time to pack up and leave the retrea, you won’t want to. This place is dangerously relaxing.
