From the moment we stepped off our ferry onto the pristine shores of Pangalusian Island, we were treated to the warmth of island hospitality. The resort, built on a private island, has been tastefully designed in harmony with the natural beauty of the island; the upkeep of the grounds is meticulous, and a huge effort has been made to ensure that the resort is as eco-friendly as it can be. We delighted in the gorgeous décor of our beach villa, which looked out onto the private white sand beach – one of the best views I have woken up to in many years!
The Pangalusian offers a huge array of free activities, much of which is guided, so that even the least adventurous of travellers will feel at ease enough to try their hand at something new. There was so much to see and do, we really didn’t regret getting up at 6am whilst on holiday! We were able to take full advantage of most of the activities on offer even though we were only there for a very short stay. On our second day, we started the morning by snorkelling with the (harmless!) local sharks, followed by a lavish breakfast buffet, and a scuba dive with dedicated instructors – all completed before lunch time!
Perhaps the best thing about Pangalusian Island (or this little “piece of paradise” as the staff refer to it as) is the attentiveness and helpfulness of everyone who works at the resort. They were exceptionally welcoming and always nearby to help; whether it be to arrange a special dining experience or (yet) another mini-excursion to nearby islands.
This gem of a resort may seem like an effort to get to, but we promise that you will find, as we did, that your efforts will be well rewarded!
