The Maya Boutique Hotel is the first hotel to have been built entirely out of straw bales, which provides brilliant insulation in the often chilly climate of Switzerland. This fantastic feature is highlighted by the location of this intimate boutique hotel. Nestled between serene fields and meadows whilst being set just above the capital of Valias, Sion. The natural and personal qualities of the Maya Boutique Hotel are enhanced by its exquisite views over the Bernese Alps. This intimate holiday getaway has only eight rooms and all are dedicated to a different type of wood. The rooms contain handmade wooden furniture and the straw bale walls create an incredibly cosy atmosphere allowing for a pleasant nights sleep. If the rooms were not already personal enough, they additionally include their own private Italian designed glass bathroom. The restaurant offers the most indulgent dishes made from locally sourced products that guests can enjoy throughout their stay. The knowledge that the food is locally produced and incredibly fresh creates a unique and personal touch to the meal. The owners of the hotel rely heavily on renewable resources and make use of the wood by using a wood oven for cooking and a wooden stove for heating the Jacuzzi. There are also many outdoor activities offered, such as hiking, which is promoted by the owners and they would be glad to recommend favoured routes.
