‘Come as you are and we will take care of the rest’ is the hotel motto at The Moss in Moscow and this is exactly what can be expected.
This hotel has incredibly comfortable and relaxing bedrooms, while the hotel staff are highly amenable - no request is too big or small, which in my case included booking one of the best restaurants in town last minute.
In the heart of Moscow this hotel is only a ten minute taxi ride from the main shopping district and key tourist attractions such as Red Square. But it is also hidden away in what feels like a Bohemian and relatively quite part of the city. The locations artistic roots are perfectly reflected through curated local art works available to purchase throughout the hotel.
What is special about this hotel is how sensory the overall experience is. Upon arriving I was presented with a little wooden tree containing three scented pods carved into the bark and asked to select the scent which most appealed. I later arrived in my bedroom to discover all of my bathroom products tailored to my choice of fragrance, wrapped in a brown paper bag.
This city never sleeps and neither does the Moss Hotel with a 24 hour concierge and bar, yet despite this the overall feel of the hotel is peaceful due to it’s immersive natural soundscapes and original design features; from the recordings of birds in a Russian Forrest in the corridors, to the living wall surrounding the lift.
Key facilities include a small but very well equipped gym, bicycles for each guest, a casual bar, restaurant and lounge area with an outdoor patio.
The breakfast menu is well presented with indulgent and delicious dishes and healthy fresh fruit juice options, while in the summer courtyard guests are surrounded by sculptural works of art. Cuisine and cocktails are reasonably priced.
The standard bedrooms have French balconies with generously sized bathrooms that include under-heated flooring with a Scandinavian aesthetic.
The hotel attracts a crowd of young and fashionable professionals. Overall this hotel is all about quality and attention to detail, it feels like a breathe of fresh air which is a welcome respite from the bustle of city centre Moscow.
This hotel has real character and soul.
