If you’re lucky, you might catch sight of a whale breaching right in front of your eyes, as you enjoy a sundowner on the villa’s expansive deck.
Sunset Avenue is the sister property to Johannesburg’s 10 2nd Avenue, but is more intimate – with only six luxury suites. Happily all are a similar generous size, and all boast breath-taking sea views, floor to ceiling windows, private balconies, Nespresso machines, underfloor heating, 600 thread count linen and a generously stocked mini bar – to name but of the villa’s top notch amenities.
Upon arrival guests are greeted by the villa’s entourage – chef, manager and host – who will be in the background to take care of you, without you even realising they are there, helpfully popping up when you are struggling to control the villa’s high tech gadgetry.
Breakfast is a feast served with sparkling wine, and can be taken at the dining table – either indoors or out. For lunch, if you opt for the chef to cook all your meals (and he is that good that you won’t want to venture out), we had a picnic prepared in a beautiful hamper, which could be taken on a short stroll down to the secluded beach. As Llandudno is a residential suburb, you won’t find the sand swarming with sunseekers here – a definite bonus.
Team 26 Sunset Avenue can however help you if you do want to venture out, making restaurant bookings or arranging for a therapist to come and give in-villa massages. They excel at the thoughtful touches – a Lindt chocolate on your pillow before bed or a surprise private table setup in your room, complete with rose petals, champagne and strawberries.
