Top Secret

The owners, Claud and Jeanette, have recently launched the Borgo Cooking School overseen by Michelin-starred Chef Andrea Mattei. They will also be launching their own wine label and skincare products.

Scandanavian owners Claus and Jeanette Thottrup bought an abandoned 13th Century village in the Tuscan hills in 2001 and have lovingly transformed it into a stunning five-star luxury boutique hotel, opening its doors in 2008. As an interior designer, Jeanette and her property developer husband, Claus, meticulously restored and converted their 13th- century Tuscan stone manor house into a 16-room work-of-art that weaves historic charm with modern luxury.

The Review

This 13th Century Tuscan hamlet takes relaxation and pleasure to a new level. Borgo’s accommodation combines ultimate luxury with refined elegance and exceptional comfort.
Inside, Borgo offers opulent en-suite rooms, superior suites and the majestic Santo Pietro Grande Suite. The exquisite stone villa has been restored with deep fireplaces, winding stone staircases and is decorated with a handpicked collection of antiques, murals, and oil paintings, exuding a sense of timeless class. Throughout the beautifully designed country estate, guests can explore to find the surrounding 13-acre gardens and secluded courtyards, enjoying rose and jasmine-scented walks, grass tennis courts, and a vegetable and herbal garden. The garden produce is used in the hotel’s gourmet organic kitchen, offering seasonal dishes made with extra care by their star chef, Stefano Santo. Guests can choose to dine at the Meo Modo restaurant or Treehouse Brasserie, both offering a fusion of classic and contemporary dishes that will leave guests’ tastebuds with a lasting impression.
