Set on the corner of the elegant and leafy Passeig del Born, just five minutes from Palma's cathedral and a 10 minute drive from the airport, Boutique Hotel Can Alomar is undoubtedly in a prime location, but that's not the best feature of this hotel.
This magnificent former 19th century palace is an architectural delight - with a new-gothic design and grand façades - which has been transformed into an impossibly chic hotel, with a focus on neutral colour palettes, plush furniture and an array of paintings and sculptures that come from the owners' very own private collection, as well as from local galleries. This art features in communal and guest rooms, where incidentally, you'll also find some of the world's comfiest beds.
Guests of the hotel can choose to while away the time drinking chilled Cava on the roof terrace, or lounging on the rooftop where a plunge pool offers respite from the Mediterranean heat. Alternatively, guests can walk up to the viewing tower where they'll be treated to panaromaic views of the cathedral, the Almudaina royal palace, the Bay of Palma and the breathtaking Tramuntana mountain range, a UNESCO world heritage site. The hotel also offers spa treatments and yoga sessions on the roof for those in need of extra relaxation.
Can Alomar's romantic Mediterranean, Japanese and Peruvian fusion restaurant is an ideal spot to wind down the day, with the secluded and intimate terrace, overlooking the Paseo del Borne, providing a warm atmosphere - enhanced by the attentive and friendly service of the multilingual restaurant staff. Dishes include fresh tuna with avocado, white fish in miso, vegetable tempura and traditional ceviche.
