Driving through the serene English countryside, only 30 miles from the hustle and bustle of Central London, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the outstanding façade of this newly renovated public house. As you park your car, you will be struck by the beautifully landscaped gardens and the smell of freshly baked bread being prepared in the outdoor pizza oven.
The staff at Hurley house will immediately make you feel at home. Guiding you to your room, you will be drawn to the huge beds made up with the finest linen and memory foam pillows. When you’re ready, walk downstairs to the terrace and pick from the extensive drinks and spirits list (think small batch gins and Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic). There are plenty of staff around to top you up or give you some local advice. You’ll then be invited for dinner in the intimate restaurant for a fine dining experience.
The seemingly endless wine list has a brilliant selection of French reds amongst others, but if you feel spoilt for choice, the Sommelier is on hand to give you advice. The restaurant at Hurley House has been quietly tipped for a prestigious Michelin Star this year and has at the helm chef Emanuele ‘Mirko’ Privitera. Within a year of opening it boasts two AA rosettes for culinary excellence. Highlights include the homemade breads which are served with Hurley House’s signature churned butter and a menu that uses local organic and seasonal ingredients to produce gourmet dishes comparable to the world’s great restaurants. Highlights include lobster, chateaubriand and truffle pasta. For breakfast, you can enjoy a continental selection that includes homemade granola and muesli or a cooked menu serving a full English or lighter options such as Loch Duart salmon and scrambled eggs.
