Royal Heritage Havelli is a royal hunting lodge that was built in the 18th century and belongs to the Maharaja of Jaipur. The property was taken over by his niece in 2006 and has been carefully restored over the last 12 years. The family-run property gives you the feeling of being right at home. The warm and welcoming owners are always around the property, take great care to host you and are full of wonderful tips about the city.
No two rooms here are alike, while some are categorized as heritage, the others are contemporary. Choose the Heritage Premium suites which have colourful hand-painted ceilings as well as private sit-outs. The bathrooms have artisanal Rajasthani tiles and are stocked with Kama Ayurveda products.
Diners have a choice of sitting in a dining room or on a courtyard overlooking the gardens. The restaurant specializes in authentic Rajasthani and North Indian cuisines with many recipes coming from the owners’ ancestors. There are also off-menu items such as Lal Maas (a Rajasthani royalty specialty) that can be made on request.
Design is definitely a focus here, ranging from checkered tiles in the restaurant to printed umbrellas by the pool. Other facilities include a bar, lush gardens, croquet on the lawns and a spa. A gym and organic café will be opening shortly.
The best of Jaipur (ask the owners for tips) can be explored from here including world-heritage forts, jewelry stores and fashion boutiques. End the day at the pool, perfect for taking in the magical hues of the sky at sunset.
